Ipanema Condo

Located in the heart of Ipanema Beach, one of the most iconic and vibrant neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro, this condominium was fully renovated and repositioned as a contemporary Airbnb rental. The project was developed by architect Mario Lordeiro, with the renovation executed under my responsibility, ensuring that the design intent was translated into a functional, high-quality built space tailored for short-term living.

From an architectural standpoint, the apartment embraces a clean, modern language defined by openness, fluidity, and spatial integration. The original layout was significantly reconfigured, with all non-structural walls removed to create a continuous, unobstructed living environment. The only remaining vertical elements are two structural columns, which were intentionally incorporated into the design and now anchor the kitchen peninsula, transforming a constraint into a defining feature of the space.

The result is an open plan layout where kitchen, dining, and living areas coexist seamlessly, enhancing natural light distribution and visual connectivity throughout the apartment. The design prioritizes clarity of space, functionality, and a sense of amplitude, key qualities for both everyday living and short-term rental appeal. The integration of materials, consistent cabinetry lines, and minimal transitions further reinforce the cohesive and contemporary character of the interior.
