Suzi Residence
I truly enjoyed designing this house in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. It remains one of my favorite projects because of how clearly the architecture responds to the site conditions. The lot had a triangular shape, narrower at the rear than at the front, and that constraint became the driving force behind the design.
From the beginning, the project was conceived to balance proportions and circulation within an irregular geometry. The layout was carefully organized to maximize usable space while maintaining clarity and flow between environments. Each volume was positioned to adapt to the site, resulting in a composition that feels intentional, balanced, and functional.
The spatial organization unfolds vertically, taking advantage of the terrain and views. The third floor becomes a key architectural moment—an open barbecue area combined with an indoor TV space, both oriented toward the ocean. Large openings and controlled transparency frame the landscape, reinforcing the connection between interior and exterior.
Materiality and structure were used to strengthen this relationship with the surroundings, while the overall composition maintains a clean and cohesive language. The result is a project where constraints are not limitations, but opportunities to create strong, well-resolved architecture.
